Challenge match versus Bruntsfield Short Hole at Bruntsfield - 25th July 2013 - Whitewashed!

Not a headline we like to report on but it is the unfortunate truth of our match against Bruntsfield Short Hole Golf Club at the Meadows.

A strange night for weather, we had a variety from sunshine to fog, the recent rain had slowed the course up but it was the same for both teams. The matches were over 27 holes with LRGS being given 7 shots.

The games as always were played in good spirit and all enjoyed themselves, Bruntsfield perhaps a little bit more than LRGS?

The good part was that three of the games were competitive, going to the last green. The other game finished early which was hardly surprising as Stuart Thomson had twos at twelve holes, not much you can do about that!! It would appear that LRGS lack stamina to last the 27 holes and therefore we are introducing fitness training before next year's match!!

As usual refreshments were taken after the match at the Golf Tavern and enjoyed by all.

Many thanks to Bruntsfield for their hospitality and the golf lesson.

The match that finished "out in the country" was Clark Munro and Stuart ("all the 2s") Thomson versus Eugene Bradley and Alex Fleming. The games that ended on the last green with wins for our hosts were -

David Rintoul and Paul Middleton against Douglas Foulis and Steven Doyle
Fraser Gordon and Jimmy Robertson against Chester Kruk and Brian Graham
Stuart Rose and John Hargreaves against Pat Denzler and Robin Morris

Many thanks to Bruntsfield for their hospitality and the golf lesson.
