Challenge match versus Bruntsfield Short Hole at Bruntsfield - 23rd July 2015

On one of the few dry summer evenings this year we arrived at Bruntsfield for our annual match against our friends from BSHGC.

As usual how many strokes we were to receive was discussed and agreed at 8 for this year competition. This may sound a lot but over the 27 holes to be played they can disappear very quickly. The wind was up but the course being wet from all of the rain this year was not as tricky as we have found it in the past.

The game as always was played in the right spirit with any cursing done under the breath as befits gentlemen!

The result was a draw 2 matches to each side so we could all retire to the Golf Tavern to replay the match and what might have been. We do though, retain a marginal edge over BSHGC as the overall score in the series is now 5 - 4 in our favour.

Thanks as usual to BSHGC for their hospitality.

Match results:-

Brian Graham and Jim Scanlon won 2 up
Czeslaw Kruk and Robin Miller won 1 up
Jim and David Maguire lost 1 down

Alastair Chalmers and Alex Fleming lost 2 down

So every match went the full distance of 27 holes, though of course our handicap allowance was very necessary!
