Challenge match versus Bruntsfield Short Hole at Bruntsfield - 21st July 2016

The match was played on a glorious summer evening with the links in fine condition.

After the tied match of the previous year our opponents had agreed to continue with the allowance of 8 strokes per match.  It may sound a generous allowance, but over the 27 hole match they can disappear all too quickly.

The match was much enjoyed by all the players and the result this year was a win for the Leith Rules team by 2 matches to 1.

The overall series is now 6 - 4 in LRGS favour but the after match discussion in the Golf Tavern was pointing to a less generous stroke allowance for next year, to be negotiated of course!

The results for the individual matches were wins for the pairings of Alastair Chalmers/Alex Fleming and Richard Ellis/Robin Morris a halved match for Robin Miller and Alison Macdonald. David Clark and David Maguire lost by the narrowest of margins- one down.
