The Foulis Medal - 4th July 2014

"For a memorable golfing experience using traditional hickory clubs, come to Leith Links and play on the very turf where golf's earliest rules were written"

The Foulis Medal was presented to the Society by our  President, Douglas Foulis, in 2007, and is competed for each year by Leith-based organisations. This year the poor weather on the day took its toll of the number of teams taking part, so on a dreich early evening, 6 teams teed off, in hope and expectation.

The weather did improve as the evening wore on and sunshine greeted us as we looked out from the bowling club bar (aka the "11th" rather than the more typical "19th").

For the first time there was a tie for first place, between Jeneil and South Leith Church. Our count back rule uses the second round of 5 holes and this showed that Jeneil won by one shot. A new winner, so congratulations to them.

The full list of scores were:-

48 - Jeneil & South Leith Church
53 - Duke Street Church
55 - Kailyard
63 - Leith Historical Society & Leith Probus I
63 - Leith Probus
