Outing to Hill of Tarvit  - 14th July 2012

Our 3rd outing to Hill of Tarvit could be subtitled “Summer 2012 - another day spoiled”. 17 hardy souls arrived on a nice sunny morning to play at Kingarrock.

After words of encouragement from host David Anderson, we sorted ourselves out for a multi-tee start to get proceedings moving. Good golf was being played by some members and average by others but everyone was enjoying themselves.

At this point the 2012 summer took over and the heavens opened and we were treated to monsoon rain. Most players walked in, however our President Douglas Foulis, his wife Yves and Richard Ellis showed great resolve (aka madness!!) and carried on playing.

The Navy were despatched to pick them up and return them safely to the warm surroundings of the cottage. Ginger beer and shortbread was provided to revive us and the usual conversations of what might have been were exchanged.

Lunch was held in the tearoom of the Mansion House and was well received by all. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

The presentation of prizes was held outside once again - the sunshine having returned. The winners were calculated on holes completed and were
Robin Morris (23 points), followed by Chester Kruk (16) and Steven Doyle (15).

A good outing if somewhat shorter than planned.

David and Michelle, together with all the others in their organisation, are deserving of the highest praise for their continued work at this unique venue. We encourage everyone to have a go at the course, we are sure you will not be disappointed, though we cannot guarantee you the same weather that we have had two years' running!
