Challenge match versus Musselburgh Old Golf Club at Leith Links - 5th July 2006

"For a memorable golfing experience using traditional hickory clubs, come to Leith Links and play on the very turf where golf's earliest rules were written"

In April we had played a close-fought and hugely enjoyable match at the Musselburgh Old course. On Wednesday 5th July 2006 we were delighted to welcome back their players for a match on the Links using Hickory clubs - and introducing the old "stymie" rule for the first time.

MOGC triumphed again, this time by 2 to 1. The match results were -

Martin Fletcher & Chester Kruk defeated Stewart Purves & Eddie Whoriskey
Alastair Chalmers & Archie Baird halved with Bill Finnigan & Peter Rattry
Jim Maguire & Kevin Dilley lost to George Grandison & Stevie Hill
Eugene Bradley & David Maguire lost to Colin Blyth & Jim Green

The best team score was from George and Stevie, with 37 for 10 holes, 1 over par. In second place were Martin & Chester and Colin & Jim with 40.
