April 2009 - Musselburgh Old gain revenge for their defeat in 2008 !

Our 5th challenge match with Musselburgh Old Golf Club held at Musselburgh on Saturday April 11th 2009 saw our opponents run out worthy winners by 4 matches to 2, making the series score 4-1 in favour of Musselburgh.

Musselburgh were determined to exact their "revenge" for our victory last year, nevertheless the matches exhibited the camaraderie that has been a hallmark of the matches since they started in 2005.

One notable absentee this year was Robin McGregor, the MOGC secretary, who was recovering from a nasty injury sustained whilst on holiday. All in LRGS wish him a speedy recovery. The match scores were -

Jim Maguire and Kevin Dilley lost to Eddie Whoriskey and Robin Rae
Alastair Chalmers and Ian Hislop lost to Colin Whoriskey and Stewart Carroll
Douglas Foulis and Robin Morris lost to Robert Little and Jimmy Duffield
Lionel Freedman and Ian Thom defeated Billy Finnegan and Stuart Purves
Jim Colville and Bob Burns lost to Andy Warnock and Scott Higgins
Martin Fletcher and Brian Graham defeated John Jones and David Barraclough

The return event at the Links using Hickory clubs will be held on Wednesday 8th July 2009. LRGS are confident of overturning this result, but there again, as can be seen in the photographs, all golfers are confident until they play their shot on the first tee !
