Challenge match versus Musselburgh Old Golf Club at Leith Links - 2nd July 2014

"For a memorable golfing experience using traditional hickory clubs, come to Leith Links and play on the very turf where golf's earliest rules were written"

A week of great weather broke around lunchtime, so it was under leaden skies and a stiff breeze that the ever-expectant players teed off in the 8th challenge match at Leith Links.

Much to our surprise, the result turned out to be a win for the Society by 4-0, thereby evening out the match series at 4-4. So 2015 promises to be an "interesting" event, as both teams seek to establish a lead in the series and we are sure that Musselburgh will dearly wish to "put one over on us" to avenge this year's score! The match results were -

Robin Morris and Chester Kruk were 2&1 against Eddie and Colin Whoriskey
Jim Maguire & Robin Miller were 3&2 against Billy Finnegan & David Hogg
Richard Ellis & Alex Fleming were 5&4 against Grant Campbell and Ali Scoots
Alastair Chalmers & David Maguire were 3&2 against Jim Stewart and Jimmy Duffield.
