May 2015 - Almost but no Cigar!

This year we almost got a magic draw with Musselburgh Old in our annual match. The wind was very strong which added to the excitement as no one was sure where the ball was going to finish up. In cricket it would have been a wide but there is no suitable golf phrase which come to mind (That can be repeated!!).

Despite that the result was 3 to 2 in favour of Musselburgh.

For the record the individual results were:-
Jim Hunter and Alex Fleming ---won
Robin Miller and Jim Maguire --- halved
Ken Gordon and Stuart Smith ---won
David Maguire and Andrew Gordon --- lost
Jim Scanlon and Eugene Bradley --- lost
Fraser Paterson and Brian Graham ---lost

So congrats to MOGC (again!), the overall score is now 8-2 to them, but it's about taking part isn't it?

We welcomed Jim Hunter and Fraser Paterson to our team for the first time, both had recently joined the Society and are now well-coached in the "hard luck Stories" that abound in the Society!

To end on a very sad note. Before the match we held a minutes' silence in memory of Jim Stewart who had unfortunately passed away during the week while on holiday. Jim was the main organiser of our match and many other Musselburgh activities. He will be very much missed at our annual get-togethers.
