May 28th 2016 - Gallant runners up once again!

Another wonderful day in East Lothian when we played our annual match against our friends from Musselburgh. Unfortunately we were depleted in numbers and could only field a team of eight. However on the morning a very late call off left us one short for the match.

The matches as always were played in the right spirit in wonderful conditions so no excuses.

The match was won by Musselburgh 2 to 1 which means they now  hold a nine to two win sequence in the series.

The results:-

Grant Campbell & Anton Larner halved with Alastair Chalmers & Eugene Bradley

Cliff Livingstone & Callum Livingstone lost to Alison Macdonald & Robin Miller

Llewelyn Jenkins & David Brown defeated David Clark & Jim Scanlon

Andy Murray & Blair Murray defeated Brian Graham

In the first match, our team were 3 down after 13 holes, got it back to 1 only to lose the 16th, but sank 2 nervy testing putts on the 17th and 18th to salvage a halved match.

Congratulations to Alison Macdonald, making her debut for our team, we hope she keeps up her 100% record in the games ahead!

Also, thanks to our newest member, David Clark, for playing for us. Not quite so successful as Alison, but surely only a matter of time?

As you will see, in the last match the Society Secretary was outnumbered by his opponents, but this should take nothing away from Andy Murray (no, not that AM!) having the round of the day, if not his life. His 71 gross off a handicap of 14 meant there was no keeping up with that. We suggest a meeting of the handicap committee before our next match. Well done Andy!
