August 2026 - 'The Story of Golf in 50 Tournaments' by Tony Dear (Pub. 2025 by Back9Press of US)  

Award-winning golf writer Tony Dear has published recently his new book about the greatest Golf Competitions since mid-1800s which have influenced and shaped the very future of golf. It captures the history of Pro golf and explains the development of golf to golfer and non-golfers. We're very pleased the author features our Society and Statue within his description of Tournament No. 1 of 50.  (and in the Bibliography alongside other illustrious sources of international standing!). Society member Charles Urquhart supported his detailed interest and research about Leith Links, the 13 Rules and John Rattray. It helps achieve our Society's aim of recognition for Leith Links in golfing history so we wish him well with his book.

Tony Dear is a former British PGA apprentice professional and member of the University of Liverpool golf team that played its home matches at Hoylake. He grew up in London, has made  contributions to numerous golf publications on both sides of the Atlantic and has lived in the US for more than 25 years.

Original Rules of Golf

A documentary film by Leith Society Golf Society to raise funds for the John Rattray statue (and associated 3 plinths and precinct area) and to record the Statue unveiling ceremoney in October 2019. It also helps fulfill the single Aim of the Society - 

To increase recognition of Leith Links as the home of the World's earliest-recorded Rules of Golf and one of the Game's prominent early locations.
